Dallas County Detention Medical and Mental Health Services

Lew Sterrett Jail in Dallas County, Texas is a Medium Security Facility.

 

ODG Engineering is responsible for the professional Electrical Engineering services for the design, bidding, and construction administration services in connection with the proposed medical and mental health services requirements for the Dallas County Jail. Work consists of remodel of spaces within the Sterrett A and B tower, Infill of shell space within the ground, first and second floor of the North Tower Jail, security entrance structures on the site, and remodel of existing spaces to accommodate medical exam, mental health, and similar spaces. Engineering Services includes power, lighting, and life-safety systems.

 

Engineering services will also include Smoke Control System enhancements and Central Plant enhancements.  Central Plant enhancements will include the replacement of two existing 1250 Ton chillers with two 1500 Ton chillers, enhancements of the ceramic cooling towers, and the addition of a steam boiler. The Facility is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

 

Dallas County Medium Security Facility

2,304 bed,  Four-Story 260,000 SF Medium Security Facility with mezzanine design housing units. Facility is an addition to the Lew Sterrett Jail in Dallas County, Texas. Chilled water is used for cooling, electric heat is used for heating of the spaces, and steam is used for tempering of the outside air and the heating of the domestic hot water system. Power to the facility is served by the existing  power plant located in the existing Lew Sterrett Jail Facility. The facility is designed with Smoke Management System and Emergency Generators.

 

Building is designed to house dormitory cell medium security inmates.

 

ODG Engineering is responsible for 24% of MEP system design which includes Smoke Management System, Power Systems, Central Plant enhancements, and Steam Systems. Central plant enhancements included the replacement of an existing 1500 Ton chiller, the addition of a 1200 Ton chiller , and the addition of a 6600 GPM ceramic type cooling tower. The Facility is scheduled to be completed in 2007.
